The Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Office provides comprehensive support to ensure an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students. Our services include academic, housing, dining, assistance animal, and facilities accommodations, as well as assistive technology and guidance on disability-related resources. We collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support the effective implementation of accommodations for students.
SAS also manages the Exam Accommodations Center (EAC), providing a dedicated space for students to complete exams with approved accommodations. Additionally, programs like the ABLE Mentor program help students transition to college life, fostering both academic and social success. This presentation will cover the steps students take to request and establish accommodations, giving instructors a clear understanding of the process from start to finish.
We will explore instructors' rights and responsibilities in implementing accommodations, with a focus on how to effectively apply them in the classroom and strategies for seamlessly integrating them into course design. Our office provides guidance and resources to help instructors appropriately implement accommodations while ensuring they are both effective and practical within their specific course context. From the accommodation process at ISU to the implementation of accommodations, this session will provide insights and best practices to support student access while maintaining academic integrity.

In this session, we will explore effective ways to implement exam accommodations and walk through the process of submitting referrals to the EAC.
This session will provide an overview of exam accommodations and explore the various implementation options. We will discuss how instructors can apply accommodations independently, through the ISU testing centers, or with our Exam Accommodation Center (EAC). We will also cover how we assist instructors by providing resources and guidance to ensure exam accommodations are implemented effectively in their courses.
In the second part of the session, we will cover the specific processes for using the EAC, including how to submit referrals, the guidelines for accommodations, and best practices for working with the center. Additionally, optional workshop time may be available upon request for instructors to receive hands-on assistance with submitting exam referrals to the EAC.
